About This Archive

This archive features selected works from Tina Tahir’s early career as a fashion photographer and illustrator, created between 2000 and 2006. Based in London at the time, Tahir developed a distinct visual language that fused photography with analog and digital drawing. As one of the first photographers to make this fusion central to her work, she quickly caught the attention of leading figures in fashion, music, advertising, and publishing.

In 2004, Creative Review (UK) named Tahir one of the year’s top emerging creatives, and she was also a finalist for the Diesel New Art Award. Her hybrid aesthetic attracted commissions from clients such as Rosenthal AG, Deutsche Grammophon, Lancôme, Le Printemps Paris, Matthew Williamson, Universal Music Group, Fairfax & Roberts Jewellery, and Marc Cain. Her work appeared on seven album covers for violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter, and her images were published in ZEITmagazin, Dealer de Luxe, Citizen K Paris, Creative Review, ELLE, Amica, FHM, Hintmag, and Squint, to name only a few.

Marking a prolific and defining chapter, these works not only shaped Tahir’s early voice as a photographer but also gave visibility to a female perspective in a field long defined by the male gaze. In 2006, a joint project with German painter Elvira Bach marked a turning point in Tahir’s career: soon after, she left commercial photography to develop her fine art practice.
